Trends in Homebuilding

Not that anyone is going to be building a lot of homes anytime soon, but here is a report from the International Builders Show discussing the Top 10 Technology Trends in homebuilding.

The theme can probably be summed up in the phrase “smart houses”. Like your car senses everything from low tires to the trunk being open, the house of the future is moving in that direction as well. My bet is that with the new administration you’ll notice it most in energy efficiency, with tax breaks for smart thermostats and the like as the initial steps and leading to the ability to monitor and minimize all the power use in your home from a central location and remotely as well. Hopefully Arkansas will offer similar tax credits, although we typically don’t take the lead on that kind of thing.
